Can Wren transcribe therapy sessions?
Yes. Wren transcribes both in-person and telehealth sessions, then turns the transcript into a finished clinical note in your format. You can keep the transcript, the note, or both — whatever your workflow needs.
Is the transcription HIPAA-compliant?
Yes. Transcription runs under a signed Business Associate Agreement with AssemblyAI, and every Wren user signs a BAA with Wren Clinical. Audio is encrypted in transit and at rest and is deleted immediately after transcription. Session content is never written to backend logs and is never used to train AI.
Does it work for both in-person and telehealth sessions?
Both. Wren Recorder, our Chrome extension, captures audio from telehealth platforms and from in-person sessions, so the same transcription workflow covers your whole caseload.
How accurate is the transcription, and does it tell speakers apart?
Transcription runs on AssemblyAI's Universal-2 speech model with speaker diarization, so it distinguishes between speakers — Wren can tell your voice from the client's when it writes the note. You always review the result before anything is finalized.
What happens to the audio after transcription?
It's deleted immediately once the transcript is produced. Wren keeps the text you need to generate your note, not the recording.
What's the difference between transcription and dictation?
Transcription captures the actual session — the real conversation between you and your client — and produces a verbatim record you can turn into a note. Dictation is you narrating the session afterward in your own words. Wren supports both.
How much does transcription cost?
Transcription is $0.20/hour, billed transparently alongside Wren's $14/month base and usage-based AI pricing. Every minute and every cost is visible in your dashboard — no bundled minutes or hidden fees.
